Wow, what a term! The children have worked hard and made some great progress. We have rounded up our topic of ‘Earth and Beyond’ by writing space stories, improving a set of instructions on how to build a paper rocket and writing letters to British Astronaut, Tim Peake and Lucy and Stephen Hawking. In Science, we tested our paper rockets to see if changing the length changed how far they flew.
Our Mathematicians have worked on multiplication and division methods, reading, comparing and converting time, finding the area and perimeter of rectilinear shapes and converting between units of measure.
As well as practising hard for the fabulous Christmas carol concert, the children have had sewing lessons, rhythmic gymnastics and an author visit this term.
We ended it on a high note with our ‘Space Day’ – we made star maps, built paper rockets, acted out a space themed play, constructed the landing gear for Mars Rover and enjoyed a space film. Just our trip to @Bristol to look forward too with plenty more space activities to enjoy!
Thank you for your support this term; we really appreciate the effort that has gone into homework projects and costumes!
Next term – Our topic will be…
Invaders and Settlers
We will be studying Vikings, Anglo Saxons and Celts and we’re super excited. Our class novel will be ‘How to train your dragon’. By Cressida Cowell. If you have a copy at home Badgers, it would be great if you could bring it in. as we’re going to read it together.
