Term 6 has been another busy and exciting time for Jaguars, we’ve been up to all sorts! At the very beginning of term, the percussion music roadshow visited us in school, we thoroughly enjoyed it and it gave Milo a chance to show off his drumming skills!
Our next highlight of the term was when Year 6 participated in Junior Good Citizen, they had a really interesting time and learnt all about fire safety, internet safety and railway safety as well as learning other useful information to help them become a good citizen.
On 16th June, some of us attended TWHF Arts Festival at The Croft Primary School. Olivia K and Rosie gave a brilliant performance of Olivia’s carnival poem, with Year 5 coming away with a prize for their imaginative and colourful carnival drum. Well done Year 5 and Year 6!
We were knee-deep in paints, watercolours and mosaic tiles in Art Week! The whole school contributed to the eye-catching mosaic which you can see by the entrance to the school, and we enjoyed using our watercolours to paint our own interpretations of The Great Wave which was the theme we chose for Art Week.
We LOVED The Ned Show, you may have noticed lots of children in Haydon Wick practising their yo-yoing skills. Watch out!
During Open Evening, we staged our very own Haydon Wick Art Gallery where lots of our art work was displayed, framed, just like in a real-life Art Gallery! We were very impressed with each other’s pictures, maybe there’s a budding Picasso or David Hockney lurking in our midst.
We have been studying South America this term and have found out some really interesting facts about the countries, as well as studying some of the geographical aspects with Mrs. Fearn. We particularly enjoyed our art work based on the work of the Brazilian artist Romero Britto.
We have really enjoyed rehearsing for our end of year play which is all about William Shakespeare. We gave 2 brilliant performances and Mrs. Coate and Mrs. Winn were very proud of us.
Well, we can’t quite believe we’ve actually made it to the end of the year! We’re looking forward to our Sports Week this week, and Year 6 are getting excited about their swimming trip and moving on to Secondary School, we wish them lots of luck in their new school.
Have a great summer, see you in September. Have a look at the photos below to see what we’ve been up to!
