Term 2 in Meerkat class has been jam packed with super learning. We were raring to go when we came back from our break and keen to write our Beast Quest stories. They are amazing and are proudly displayed in the classroom.
Continuing with our topic of ‘Extreme Earth’, we spent a fabulous morning learning how to build and light fires and make survival shelters. We also designed and baked ‘explorer’s muffins’. These great activities helped us to write instructions and recipes.
In maths we learned how to multiply and divide by 4 and 8 and how to use written methods for multiplication and division.
Our topic has had us learning about extreme weather and we loved researching our chosen subject and producing PowerPoint presentations about them. We also created ‘Extreme Earth’ posters in art.
We have been continuing with our recorder lessons and now know how to play the notes B, A, G and C and can put them together to play a tune. We’ve been learning how to read music and how to count beats of the pulse.
We practised hard for our carol concert this term. We did our teachers proud as we were so focussed and sensible while rehearsing.
We ended the term with a Christmas crafts day (or two) and enjoyed a bit of freedom to be creative. We couldn’t resist going a little crazy with the glitter though!
We’re all looking forward to our new topic to start 2018 – ‘Meet the Flintstones – The Stone age.’
