It’s been a short term but Badger class have been busy doing lots of learning about our topic Europe – with a particular focus on France. As the Montgolfier brothers, who first created hot air balloons, were from France, we have written explanation texts about how a hot air balloon works.
This linked well with our science topic about states of matter and we have enjoyed investigating the properties of solids, liquids and gases. As part of this we did a fun fizzy drink experiment and a chocolate experiment investigating the best temperature to melt chocolate.
Our ‘Earth Summit’ trip to Coleshill was a huge success and the children did a fantastic job presenting their prior learning about sustainable living. Our workshops included: organic food in which we had the chance to taste the fresh produce, water which included ways to reduce our use of water, getting to school and biodiversity as well as some others.
We were very lucky with the weather! It was great to see some brilliant homework including models of the Eiffel tower and the flags of Europe.
