We have had an exciting time this term in Jaguar class! We have been studying The Great War and have learnt a lot about how the war started and the conditions that the soldiers in the trenches lived in. Have a look at the photos of our displays in the gallery.
When we’re in class, Mrs. Coate thinks we’re working hard and focusing on our learning, but actually we’re thinking about all sorts of exciting things! Read some of our poems in the gallery ‘Mrs. Coate Thinks …’ and you’ll see what we mean!!
On European Day of Languages, we studied Mexico. We learnt some Spanish and tasted some Mexican food, it was delicious! We have had some really interesting assemblies this term, and we particularly enjoyed some of our visitors. We were treated to a demonstration of martial arts and felt extremely relaxed after our yoga assembly!
In Science, we have been learning about micro-organisms and made compost towers out of plastic bottles. Over a couple of weeks, we observed what happened to the food we put inside. They did get a bit smelly!
Our computing lessons this term have been led by Mr. Summerson. He has reminded us each week about e-safety and we have created music using the iPads. Mrs. Coate even accompanied us with her guitar when we played the chords for ‘It’s a Long Way to Tipperary’, a WW1 song we learnt in class.
Mr. P has been teaching us how to play lacrosse this term. We have thoroughly enjoyed our outdoor P.E. sessions and both Mr. P and Mrs. Coate have been impressed with our lacrosse skills and our teamwork.
On 10th October, Year 6 were fortunate to be invited to Nova Hreod to take part in a morning of maths activities with a Harry Potter theme. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning and improved our maths skills as well. It was great to see some of our Year 6 from last year, thank you to Danielle, Alex and Milo for helping us.
On 13th October, we had our Harvest Festival. In the afternoon, Y6 visited James Wilks House to deliver Harvest produce. We always enjoy visiting our friends at James Wilks and are looking forward to performing our Christmas concert for them in December.
We hope you have enjoyed reading all about what we have been up to!
