We have been learning about all things small as we have been searching all around school for mini beasts. We got to compare our results to those from Goat Acre Farm when we went on our fantastic trip!
We have followed lots of instructions as we learnt about imperative verbs and instruction texts. Have you ever wondered what a bug and beetle sandwich tasted like? Well Squirrels class can tell you! We then followed pictorial instructions to make our own caterpillars and butterflies and then write the instructions for other people to follow. They both came in very handy when we created our own life cycle models.
In our Art lessons we had to have a ‘Growth Mindset’ and not give up when drawing flowers and butterflies was a little tricky. We learned that if we persevere and look very carefully at shapes and lines we can get better with each draft. We are so proud with how our final pieces turned out!
We carried on thinking about creatures great and small as we explored the stories ‘Superworm’ and ‘A Bug’s Life’. Both gave us some lovely ideas to write our own stories. We found talking about our work and planning it carefully really helped us.
We enjoyed the European Day of Languages as we focussed on Italy. We learnt some Italian words and tried some Italian food. We all loved making and eating the Italian pizza but not everyone felt the same way about olives!
We all look forward to next term and continuing our learning and fun!
