Our term started with a Poetry Workshop, run by Hilda Sheehan. She explained that this year, Swindon is celebrating 125 years of Innovations including the production of the iconic Spitfire. As part of this celebration, we were asked to contribute poems on the theme of Flight. We started by analysing a collection of poems, so that we could see the many forms that poetry can take. We moved on to writing our own – with some very pleasing results!
We were very lucky to have Miss Sparks taking our PE lessons- she focused on our athletics skills in preparation for our Sports Day. We have also enjoyed football coaching.
In Computing, we were learning about various data handling packages- always remembering the importance of safety when using the internet.
Through our Science and Geography we researched Volcanoes- how they are formed, where they are found, and what causes eruptions. We wrote our own information leaflets from our research. We continued the theme of Volcanoes through our Art, where we have been learning the technique of block printing.
Finally- we rounded our term off with our class assembly-What a great success! The children thoroughly enjoyed showing the whole school, their parents and carers all that they have learnt about Invaders and Settlers. So many lines were learnt, songs were performed and parts were acted out with enormous confidence!
Well done Otters- you made us all VERY proud!
