This term started off with some fantastic persuasive writing trying to persuade people to reduce their use of plastics, especially single-use plastics. They all used excellent persuasive language and put forward extremely powerful arguments. Following this, we learnt about the story of Boudicca. The children wrote super character descriptions and retold the story of Boudicca’s revolt. Next we moved on to finding out about the even more gory Gladiators and they wrote diaries from their viewpoint.
As part of our history topic ‘The Romans,’ we found out about Roman roads and Roman baths. Our exciting trip to Chedworth Roman Villa gave us the opportunity to see archaeologists in action as we were lucky to see the discovery of more mosaics which were being uncovered during our visit. It was great fun for the children to dress up as Roman slaves, make medicine bags, handle real-life Roman artefacts and have a guided tour around the ancient site. They were impressed by the amazing mosaics depicting myths and learnt more about daily Roman life.
The children produced some beautiful art work for the White Horse Arts Festival, making super cushion covers. Also congratulations to those who did the homework task and produced excellent pictures.
In our final week the children have been enjoying sports sessions such as golf to keep them active and healthy.
Well done Badger class for working so hard this year – we have enjoyed teaching you all. Have a fantastic Summer holiday!
