Hedgehogs Class Term 3 2017-18

It has been a chilly term outdoors but we are busy and warm in Hedgehogs class.

We started off with New Year’s Resolutions and many of them have been kept up well with clear improvement in many aspects of work.

We began our ‘Famous People’ topic with George Stephenson and wrote some wonderful letters pretending we had been at the Rainhill trials, when the Rocket won the competition by proving it was fastest, strongest and most reliable of the locomotives. The spectators look truly amazed to see a vehicle travelling at 30 mph!

We focused on Florence Nightingale for a couple of weeks and enjoyed a visit from the lady herself! In that drama experience the children proved excellent patients, wounded soldiers and nurses.

They then rose to the challenge of writing an information text about the life and achievements of Florence Nightingale.

Photos of the visit can be seen on the schools twitter account.

Maths continued with division, time, statistics and shape.

Some children are still learning to tell the time to the quarter hour, while others can tell the time to any minute. Targets for some of the class for telling the time will be found in mid-term reports.

We celebrated the NSPCC Number Day with number costumes and maths activities. Mrs Adams was covered with stickers with true and false maths statements and the children enjoyed sorting them into the correct groups.

Safer Internet day saw us writing comments on post-its to stick on other people’s pictures, to remind us to post kind comments only online.

World Book Day is calling us next, along with a lot more to do before Easter!
