This term we have continued to enjoy our topic on Macbeth and William Shakespeare. We have been doing our own research on his life and plays. We have looked closely at the part where Macbeth and Banquo meet the three witches for the first time. You can visit our classroom and read our fabulous descriptions and complex sentence structures! We have started work on an estate agent’s brochure to sell Macbeth’s castle. This is a persuasive piece of writing as we are trying to appeal to potential buyers of a haunted castle.
This term we have continued to learn about mindfulness from Hema. We have been looking beyond our own mindfulness ‘bubbles’ and learned how to be mindful in our eating and movement. We tasted some chocolate and learned how to be mindful when we eat, thinking carefully about the texture and taste. Look for our display in the hall to find out more!
This term we have continued to learn about internet safety. A PCSO (Mr Lee Hare) visited us and talked to us about online safety. Our own e-cadets also led sessions in all classes.
This term, some children from Jaguars and Tigers (Chloe, Reka and James from Tiger class) took part in the WHF Science festival 2018! The theme this year was ‘Aeroplanes and Aviation’. Our children took part in a special activity which involved them becoming scientists: researching flight and the forces which affect flying objects. Our team won the prize for best project!
Our homework has been incredible again this term! Many children have become fascinated with the life of William Shakespeare and many produced fantastic quizzes to challenge the class. You can find some pictures below of the wide range of homework children have created.
On Sports relief day we were able to come to school in our own school kit for the sports activities we took part in. Congratulations to Rebecca, Layla, Sienna and Freya who raised £35 for Sports relief by creating their own money raising activities: ‘Name the teddy’ and ‘Guess the number of sweets in the jar’.
On 12th March some children from Tiger and Jaguar class took part in a debating competition at the county hall! Our team had been working hard on their speech writing skills since last October. They debated a variety of topics with fabulous teams from the other White Horse schools and competed in the final under the close watch of the Mayor! Well done Lois, Hannah, Ryan, Riley, Ahmad and Adam, the winners of the White Horse Federation Debating Cup 2018!
Finally, our action-packed term came to an end with the Year 6 trip to PGL. As always this trip was a memorable experience as the children challenged themselves to climb higher than they ever thought possible. You can see some pictures below of our adventures…
Congratulations to Brina, who was the lucky finder of one ‘Golden ticket’!! Her prize was an afternoon tea with Mrs Gale!
