Term three was full to the brim with learning and fun! Badger class started the new topic of ‘Invaders and Settlers’ by researching Anglo Saxon stories and art. We had a great time re-telling the story of Beowulf through drama and story writing. The children chose some fantastic descriptive language to use. As well as this, the children researched and wrote their own Anglo Saxon information texts.
We have learned how to use a coding programme called ‘Scratch’ in computing, studied the forces of friction, air resistance and upthrust in science and looked at fractions, decimals and percentages and rounding in maths. The children have met the challenges with determination.
In art, they designed and made an Anglo Saxon brooch – they are fabulous! We started our new whole class reading book ‘How to train your dragon’ by Cressida Cowell. We are enjoying reading it together and will be writing our own stories based on it in term four.
We will continue to find out about invaders and settlers in term four but will be looking at the Vikings and how the Anglo Saxons had to adapt to their invasions.
We ended the term with ‘Safer Internet Day’ – we talked about being careful what we say online and practised saying positive things because what we say ‘sticks’.
