This year the Year One class will be taught by Miss Slattery (Mon/Tues) and Mrs Eaglestone (Wed/Thurs/Fri). The children will also be supported by Mrs Dolisznyj, Miss Remnant and Mrs Heard, the class/key stage teaching assistants.
This term our topic will be Let’s Celebrate. A brief outline of the themes we hope to cover each week will be displayed in the cloakroom. Alongside this the Year one children also follow the Y1 National Curriculum programmes of study.
Children are welcome into the classroom as soon as the cloakroom door is opened by a member of staff. The cloakroom does get very crowded in the mornings so we ask you to encourage the children to be as independent as possible. Once they have settled into the new school year please encourage them say goodbye to you in the playground and to come into the cloakroom and the classroom independently.
Home time Routine
We will stand with the children at the classroom door and let them go when we see you in the playground. (Please give us a wave for the first few days until we get to know you.)
If your child is going to after school club, or is being collected by someone other than yourself please record this on the board just inside the cloakroom door.
Please make sure ALL items of clothing are clearly labelled including PE kit.
It would be helpful if your child could bring a pair of wellies to keep in the cloakroom for wet weather activities and welly walks.
We have a morning snack of fruit, milk or water.
Throughout the year we will offer children enrichment activities in order to do this and to cover the cost of cooking activities we ask for a contribution of £12.00 to cover the whole year OR £2 every term. Please give the money, in a named envelope, to one of the adults in the classroom.
Your child will do PE twice a week, please keep an eye on your parent board to update you of any changes.
We look forward to working with you and your child over the next academic year. If you have any queries please feel free to pop in and see us – after school is usually the most convenient time.
