Only 5 weeks separate us from the last holiday, so we had to work very hard to pack everything into term 4. Along with the rest of the school, we enjoyed taking part in World Book day by dressing up as a book character. It’s not every school that has Cruella de Ville, Mrs Large the elephant and Professor McGonagal in one classroom. The Year 3s helped to break the world record for the biggest quiz, and Year 2s organised themselves in teams for their own quiz.
We completed our Science topic by learning about keeping clean with Dirty Bertie and writing our own booklets on ‘How to Keep Healthy.’
We have rounded off our famous people topic with some high quality writing on Alexander Graham Bell, Elizabeth I and Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The challenge now is to use all features of good writing in all our work as well as including the new features we are learning week by week. Our trip to Steam was brilliant and the children were praised for their good behaviour.
We have had an energetic end to the term; we all jogged, walked or scooted a mile on Sport Relief Day and during the last week we completed 10 different activities as we travelled to each classroom area for something different.
The final treat will be Storybox Theatre Company performing ‘The Snow Queen’ on the last day of term. Rod has been presenting magical stories at Haydon Wick School annually for many years and never fails to grab the attention of children and adults alike. This is a highlight of the year!
