Badger class have had another busy term filled with activity!
We are having fun learning about the Celts, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings for our topic. Our ‘Viking day’ was fantastic fun – thank you for your super efforts with dressing up. They learnt a tremendous amount about life in Anglo-Saxon and Viking times. They especially enjoyed learning about which weapons were best to use in battle!
Our English has focused on diary writing based on the book ‘How to train your dragon.’ Their diaries were brilliantly written and they are really building up their stamina for writing now. The children are really enjoying reading this book in guided reading and many have started to read the next ones in the series!
In Science we have been learning about ‘Forces’ and have investigated friction, air resistance and water resistance. We carried out an investigation into which shape of plasticine has the most water resistance and amazingly managed to not spill a drop of water!
Our PSHE work has been based on the theme of ‘Dreams and goals.’ They have thought about their own personal dreams and steps they need to make to achieve them. We have also discussed overcoming disappointment and ways to become more resilient.
In DT the children have been busy building cam mechanisms to make moving toys with a dragon theme. They have really enjoyed the opportunity to use a hack saw and drill! We just need to add the finishing touches in term 4 and then they can bring them home.
Have a lovely, restful half term break.
