Wow! That term went very quickly! As usual, we have filled the term with many exciting activities.
The children were amazing in our class assembly – we hope you all enjoyed watching it! They all worked really hard to learn their lines and certainly enjoyed singing the songs – especially ‘Greece is the word!’
For English and Guided Reading we have been enjoying reading ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret’ and have written our own fantastic mystery/ adventure stories based in Paris. Our art work has also been inspired by the book and we have done some beautiful pencil sketches. We thought about the value of ‘Trust’ and considered who Hugo could trust and whether he could be trusted.
Our Science topic has been ‘Properties of materials.’ We have learnt about the properties of solids, liquids and gases and carried out a fizzy drink investigation, exploring which drink is the fizziest.
In PE the children have been learning striking and fielding games including cricket, tennis and rounders. They have been improving their skills of hitting the ball, fielding and bowling – we have some super budding sports players!
We have ended the term with a brilliant trip to Coleshill for our ‘Earth Summit.’ First we shared our presentations about our school and the environment – the children were brilliant at presenting our findings. Next, the children took part in many workshops including: ‘Soils and Composting,’ ‘Windmills,’ ‘Watermill,’ ‘Coleshill organics,’ ‘Water,’ ‘Biodiversity’ and ‘Should a shirt cost the Earth?’
It was a super day in which we all discovered how we could take responsibility for helping make the Earth a wonderful place to live and protect it for the future. We were very lucky with the weather as most of the activities were outside!
