We have been busy settling into school life at Haydon Wick. We have thoroughly enjoyed making new friends and sharing our values with one another.
We have explored the different areas of the environment. In the outdoor classroom we have built and constructed in the building site. We have drawn pictures and written our sounds and words in the outdoor writing area. We love the market stall and there’s always something to explore in the sand or the tuff trays. We’ve climbed on our climbing frame and taken turns on the bikes and scooters.
In the indoor classroom we’ve made some wonderful creations in the Make – it – Centre. We’ve explored the Number Jungle and the Construction Area. We have achieved many challenges in the Writing Area and relaxed and enjoyed a story in the Quiet Area.
We carry out Dough Disco before we meet Sammy Snake in our daily phonics sessions. We can build words now and are having a good go at writing them.
We look forward to seeing which Number Block we will be introduced to every week. We can subitise using our magic eyes and we are very good at using a 5s frame. Playing ‘5 Nice Things’ is a favorite choice in Dragonflies Class!
When we are really impressed with ourselves we might ask for our achievements to be displayed on our own individual Magical Moment Board. Sometimes Miss Lawro or Mrs Hawkins might spot something special too.
We celebrated the fact that we are working towards being a Dyslexia friendly school and we all wore green. We learnt the poem - Ning Nang Nong on World Poetry Day and added in some snazzy actions. We welcome the times when parents come in to visit us… This term we shared a story with them.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our first term at school!
