Well what a busy term… here are some of the things that we have been getting up to.
We like to warm up our fine motor movements and prep our little hands ready for our pencil grip, by carrying out Dough Disco. Miss Lawro leads the way and we all copy. "It’s one of my favorite bits", says Stephen.
We celebrated some festivals this term… we learnt about Diwali, The Festival of Light. We made clay divas, dressed up and sequenced the story of Rama and Sita. We also enjoyed talking about Bonfire Night. Some of us came to the firework display held at school. We retold some poetry, created chalk and glitter firework pictures and made 3D rockets. We were lucky enough to wrap up warm and have a hot dog outside. We also made chocolate sparklers and carried out some writing, including onomatopoeia words.
Our local PCSOs came to visit us and chatted to us about how to keep safe. We even got to listen to the siren on the police car and go in for a little sit down. Autumn looks very comfortable! (see the gallery below)
We carried out an experiment and did some food tasting. "This fruit is fizzy in my mouth I like pineapple now", says Oakley. We shared the story of Handa’s Surprise and drew some wonderful sketches of the fruits.
We are now working with a 10s frame, we carried out some autumnal measuring and completed repeating patterns on stockings and wrapping paper.
We each made a Christingle and can explain what all the parts represent. Canon Adams led our whole school Christingle service in the hall. We walked in carefully and the rest of the school sang our Christingle song.
Finally of course we had our Christmas Play… Humph the Camel. We were all super at going on the stage and doing our part. We joined in with some fantastic singing too. (Miss Lawro was really proud of us) Thank you again for our costumes Mummy and Daddy. We loved decorating the classroom and taking part in lots of Christmas activities.
Happy New Year everyone! We will be in 2020 when we come back in Term 3!
