We have been working on our number bonds to 10.
We can recall them, record them in a number sentence and make them using many different pieces of equipment. We have worked in many different practical ways to see how we can make and build 10. You can see in the gallery below where we are getting on and off the bus.
We are working closely with another Reception Class in another school. Here we are looking at similarities and differences with our uniforms. We have carried our pieces of writing and made books for each other. We have compared our classrooms, sent a picture of who we all are and hopefully the plan is that one day we will actually visit each other.
We have had 29 members in Dragonflies class, on a Wednesday afternoon this term… Betty has been making an appearance and subsequently we decided to each make a fact file on her. It tells everybody how best to look after her and the things that you will need. We have shared our values with Betty and shown her how we follow our Classroom Charter and Golden Rules. We think that she likes coming to play with us!
We celebrated Pancake Day and most of us enjoyed sugar and lemon on ours. Some of us had golden syrup too. Storm said ‘mine is sooo yummy’ and Sophia explained that ‘mine tastes kind of sweet and fluffy’!
We thoroughly enjoyed dressing up on World Book Day. We looked at ourselves in the mirror and got to write on one of Miss Lawro’s special ‘post-it-notes’ saying who we were. We shared lots of stories and loved spending time looking at our books.
Alongside our normal PE, dance and cosmic yoga sessions… we were lucky enough to have a football session this term and a tennis class.
Science week gave us a very exciting science show. ‘Rocket’ gave us lots of brilliant things to watch and shared some experiments.
We did our class assembly this term! We wanted to make it a special Mother’s Day for our Mummies… so we did our class assembly this term, and it was all about our Mums. We loved practicing the songs and making up the dance. We spoke clearly and described our Mummies. We told them why we love them too. Miss Lawro, Mrs Hawkins and Miss Kent were so impressed and proud with us that we had a little party afterwards. We ate some treats and played some party games… our paired readers came to join us for a game of musical statues too.
Us Dragonflies had lots of Easter fun too. We had our Barn Owl friends come and join us for an Easter egg colouring in session. We invited our friends and family into our classroom for some Easter crafts. We carried out many Easter activities. Then to finish the week we had our Early Years Easter Bonnet Parade.
