Frogs Class Update Term 2

Wow! What a jam packed but super fun term we had!

We all loved our topic ‘Polar Express’! From learning about hot and cold countries to writing fact files about polar animals, the children were really engrossed in this topic and learnt so much!

We read about Alfie the polar bear who wanted to swim in the sea but could only do the Polar Bear Paddle. Frogs class learnt the story off by heart and even re-wrote the entire story by themselves – some amazing work was produced!

In science we had to figure out how to save the animals – some of our polar animals were frozen in a big block of ice! The children worked hard to think of how we could save them, and learnt that heat melts ice! So, we investigated ice, looking at its properties and predicting what conditions would make it melt. Frogs class thought about some places around the school that the ice would and wouldn’t melt, to prove their prediction that hotter areas will melt the ice quicker. In the end, the radiator was a very good choice and melted the ice in 30 minutes!

This term we were also visited by two elves sent by Santa from the North Pole – Buddy and Coco. They got up to all sorts of mischief! Santa also visited Frogs class which was very magical.

During the end part of the term we did lots of christmas arts and crafts, producing some fantastic bell decorations for our Christmas trees and sculpting clay polar bears.

We ended on our nativity, ‘Humph the Camel’, which was truly the highlight of the term, as I’m sure you will agree. The children worked so hard and this really showed. They were all amazing and we are so proud of them all.

We hope you had a fantastic Christmas and are ready and raring to go for another fabulous term!
