We had lots of fun dressing up as pirates for Pirate Day!
We had a special surprise visit from Captain Blackbeard the pirate! He read us a story and we were able to ask him questions. Next we had to use our investigative skills and work together as a class to solve the riddles on the treasure hunt. The very last riddle we solved led us to the treasure – chocolate golden coins!
As part of our English this term we have written some lovely pieces of work related to our Pirates topic. We wrote a thank you letter to Captain Blackbeard for the chocolate golden coins and have even made our own pirate riddles for our friends in Honeybees to solve.
We were fascinated by having the chicks and being able to hold them in our classroom. It made learning about the lifecycle of a chick really come to life! We have learnt interesting facts such as, how to tell whether a chick is a boy or girl.
In Science we have been carrying out our very own investigations! We have discussed the properties of materials, looked at whether objects float or sink and made our own pirate ships.
We enjoyed dressing up as Rockstars for Rockstars day! The Year One children in Honeybees buddied up with Frogs Class and learnt how to use the Maths Rockstar’s website on the Ipads which helped us with our counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
In PE we have been getting better at running the Golden Mile around our school field to improve our previous score of the times we can run around the track. We have also been working hard on our skipping skills.
