Our term started with our space day in which the children undertook astronaut training then, having completed this successfully, we launched into space!
We carried out investigations into whether the size or height of dropping a ball affected the size of the crater created. Thank you so much for providing great costumes – they all looked the part.
After this we had our exciting trip to ‘We the curious’ where we took part in an Earth, Sun and Moon workshop, explored the interactive museum and went on an exciting 3D journey through space!
Continuing with our space theme, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the moon landing by writing diaries considering the thoughts and feelings of those watching the experience. We also write a script for a news report based on the moon landings. To finish our ‘Earth and space’ topic, we used all of our research and knowledge to write a non-chronological report about the subject.
In Computing we have used iMovie on the iPads using green screening to create our news reports about the moon landing.
Premier Sports have taught gymnastics this term. The children practised different balances, shapes and jumps as well as exploring the apparatus.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing you all for a new term in 2020!
