Squirrels Class Update Term 5

Wow!

What another busy term in Squirrel Class!

In term 5 we enjoyed lots of different things. We have been studying the country of India and have enjoyed sending and receiving letters from a pen friend in India called Lakshmi. We thought about the clothes that people wear in India and reasons why they may wear them and the differences between our house and Lakshmi’s house.

We also have loved reading a story called ‘Footprints in the Forest’, set in Chembakolli in India. It is about a girl called Kelu and her adventures in the rainforest where she meets a tiger spirit. We wrote some beautiful descriptions of the rainforest with noun phrases and similes. Then we used the structure of the story to help us make up our own stories.

In art lessons we continued to think about India and have drawn and coloured beautiful peacocks. We used oil pastels and very carefully have a go at blending colours together. They look great!

We also did some super learning in STEM week. We all took part in a Science experiment testing biscuits for dunkability! Rich Teas are surprisingly strong!!

We also designed and made our own fishing magnetic games. We then enjoyed going into the hall and looking at all the other games made by children across the school.

All the Year 2 staff have been very proud of all the children this term after completing their SATs. They all had a super attitude, tried their best and really showed off everything they have learnt. It was so good for us to really appreciate just how far the children have all come this year. We’re so impressed! Well Done!!

Now go and have a super half term holiday & we’ll see you for lots more fun learning in Term 6.

(How is it term 6 already?!)
