Hello and a warm welcome to Dragonflies Class!
Dragonflies is the Reception class which is taught by Mrs Hambidge (Monday and Tuesday) and Miss Lawro (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). The children will also be supported everyday by Mrs Hawkins, the class teaching assistant, and by Mrs Goodall for intervention groups.
Topics we will be covering this year:
· Term 1 - I am Special
· Term 2 - Winter Wonderland
· Term 3 - Castle on a cloud
· Term 4 - The secret life of animals
· Term 5 - a Pirates life
· Term 6 - Living and Growing
Morning Routine
Children are welcome to come into the classroom as soon as the cloakroom door is opened by a member of staff between 8.20-8.30am. Please encourage them to say goodbye to you in the playground and to come into the cloakroom and the classroom independently.
Home Time Routine
We will stand with the children at the cloakroom door and will let them go when we see you in the playground (please give us a wave when your child is at the front). If your child is going to an after school club or is being collected by someone other than yourself, then please let us know or give the school office a call.
Home Learning
Please read with your child daily. It really makes a huge difference to their development. We will change the children's books once a week. We also ask that you support them with their phonics sounds and their tricky words.
What You Need in Dragonflies Class:
School Uniform/PE
Please make sure ALL items of clothing are clearly labelled, including PE kit. PE kit should be in school at all times and should include: t-shirt, shorts and daps (trainers/jogging bottoms for cold and wet weather).
Wellington Boots
For wet weather activities and welly walks, we ask that your child brings in a pair of wellies that are named and pegged together. These will be kept in our cloakroom.
Snack/Enrichment Activities
We have a morning snack of fruit, milk or water. Throughout the year we will also offer children enrichment activities. In order to do this and to cover the cost of cooking activities, we ask for a contribution of £12.00 to cover the whole year OR £2 every term. Please give the money, in a named envelope, to a member of staff in the classroom. Thank you!
