Haydon Wick Primary School For Parents

Frogs (Year 1)

Hello and a warm welcome to Frogs class from Miss Jefferies!

Frogs class is the Year One class at Haydon Wick, which will be taught by Miss Jefferies. The children will also be supported by the class teaching assistant, Miss Remnant.

Topics we will be covering this year:

  • Term 1 - I am Special
  • Term 2 - Winter Wonderland
  • Term 3 - Castle on a Cloud
  • Term 4 - The Secret Life of Animals
  • Term 5 - Island Life
  • Term 6 - Living and Growing

Morning Routine

The children are welcome to come into the classroom at 8.50am, or from 8.30am if they have a sibling with an earlier drop off time. We ask that you please encourage your child to come into the classroom independently by leaving them at the planters just outside the cloakroom door. This ensures that social distancing is maintained between yourselves and the adults working in the classroom.

Home time Routine

We will bring your child out to the playground at 3.30pm. We will send them to you one at a time. The playground can be busy at the end of the day so please give us a wave so we can send your child to you promptly. If your child is going home with someone other than yourself, please let Miss Jefferies know when you drop off, or alternatively leave a message with the office and they will pass it on.

Home Learning

Please read with your child daily. We also ask that you support them with their phonics sounds, key words and spellings.

What will you need in Frogs class?

School Uniform/PE

Please make sure ALL items of clothing are clearly labelled, including PE kit. PE kit should include coloured t-shirt, shorts and daps (also trainers/jogging bottoms for cold and wet weather).

PE will be on Monday and Wednesday - please send your child into school wearing their PE kit on these days.

Wellington Boots

For wet weather activities and welly walks, we ask that your child brings in a pair of wellies that are labelled and pegged together. These will be kept in the cloakroom.

Snack/Enrichment Activities

We have a morning snack of fruit, milk or water. Throughout the year we will also offer children enrichment activities. In order to do this and to cover the cost of cooking activities, we ask for a contribution of £12 to cover the whole year or £2 every term. Please give the money, in a named envelope, to a member of staff in the classroom.

Key Dates and Information

Please keep an eye on the Class Dojo page and letters coming home in your child's book bag for important messages and key dates.

Previously we have had an open-door policy for communication with parents, but unfortunately with Covid-19 this is not possible. If you wish to discuss something with me or have any queries, then please get in contact either via a message on Class Dojo or catching me at drop off in the mornings. Please bear in mind the need to maintain social distancing during these conversations.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
