Homework

  • Each term children will be given spelling lists.
  • Each term children will be given a ‘pick and mix’ homework sheet from which they can choose a homework. They will be able to present their homework in a variety of formats including ‘Class Dojo’
  • Weekly maths homework will be given out on Fridays and needs to be brought back into class on Wednesdays
  • Reading – A minimum of 15 minutes every day. Children can choose a book that they enjoy!

Reading rainbow

  • At Haydon Wick we are promoting reading for pleasure. In Tiger class, children can choose a book from our fabulous ‘NEW’ class library! This book should be read both at home and at school.
  • Children will be encouraged to vary their reading diet and will be given non-fiction books regularly to improve their vocabulary and knowledge about the world.
  • Your child will come home with a reading rainbow bookmark. Parents can put a signature in a box for every daily 15 minute read that takes place. (If your child is reading for longer that is FANTASTIC!)

PE

  • Jaguars PE day will be MONDAY this term. The lessons are taken by ‘Premier Sport’
  • Please can children wear their PE kit to school on MONDAY
  • Jaguar class will go outside for physical exercise every Wednesday – Please ensure your child has trainers in school on Thursday or wears trainers to school.
  • Tigers PE day will be TUESDAY this term. The lessons are taken by ‘Premier Sport’
  • Please can children wear their PE kit to school on TUESDAY
  • Tiger class will go outside for physical exercise every Thursday – Please ensure your child has trainers in school on Thursday or wears trainers to school.

Rewards

We will be using a ‘Recognition Board’ to list children who behave brilliantly. We are looking for children who go ‘over and above.’ Each Friday one child showing all the values will be chosen for ‘Hot Chocolate Friday.’

Wet weather

As movement around school is restricted, It will be really helpful if your child could bring a warm waterproof jacket and wellies to school. This will enable us to go outside for a break even when it is raining!
