Year 4/5 - Mrs Deegan

Hello and a warm welcome from Mrs Deegan

Hello, Happy New Year and welcome back to school.

I hope everyone had a good rest and you are all ready for another busy term!
May we all just take this opportunity to say a huge Thank-You for all the lovely gifts I received for Christmas. It really was very kind and generous of you.

Our new topic this term is ‘’Celts, Anglo Saxons and Vikings’. This is a history based topic and we will be finding out about life during these periods. To go alongside the topic, we will be using the book ‘How to train your dragon’ as a focus for our writing.

PE is going to now be on Tuesdays and Thursdays and so it is essential that PE kits are in school for both days. Both days are likely to be outdoor PE and we do go out even in the cold weather, so please send in jogging bottoms as part of the PE kit. School jumpers can be used for their tops.

Spellings will still be given on Mondays for a test on the following Friday and I will also be sending times tables for the Year 4 children to practise at home.

Homework will continue to be set once a term and your child has already been provided with a range of pick and mix activities to choose from. It has been lovely to share all the fabulous homework projects with parents and I will inform you of the date for open afternoon later this term.

As ever, if anyone needs to talk to anyone then we will usually be available after school for 10-15 mins, if you need more time then please feel free to make an appointment. The door is always open!

If anyone has any time they would like to spend with us in school, we would be delighted to have you, just let me know and I can get the relevant forms completed. It would be great if we could get adult volunteers to read with us.

Once again welcome back and if you have any queries feel free to ask.
