Wow! What another busy term in Squirrel Class! In term 5 we enjoyed lots of different things. We have been studying the country of India and have enjoyed sending and receiving letters from a penfriend in India. We wrote to her about weather, our school day, walking to school and telling her about our houses. We loved tasting Indian food and I think some of us were surprised at how much we liked it all!
We also have loved reading a story called ‘Footprints in the Forest’, set in Chembakoli in India. It is about a girl called Kelu and her adventures in the rainforest where she meets a tiger spirit. We wrote some beautiful descriptions of the rainforest with noun phrases and similes. Then we used the structure of the story to help us make up our own stories.
In Art lessons we continued to think about India and have drawn and coloured tiger’s eyes. We used oil pastels and very carefully have a go at blending colours together. They look great! We also did some colour transfer pictures and created images of the Taj Mahal in the sunset and then came back to pastels to draw images of Kelu’s rainforest in India.
All the Year 2 staff have been very proud of all the children this term after completing their SAT’s. They all had a super attitude, tried their best and really showed off everything they have learnt. Well Done!!
We now look forward to a lot more fun in Term 6.
