On Friday, 7th February, Haydon Wick Primary School took part in NSPCC Number Day, a special event dedicated to raising awareness and enthusiasm for mathematics while supporting a great cause. The day was inspired by three thought-provoking books: If the World Were 100 People, How Much is a Million?, and How Big is a Million?, helping students explore numerical concepts in a fun and interactive way.
Each class engaged in activities linked to these books, deepening their understanding of numbers and scale. Students did role play, played board games, problem solving, drawing and writing to explore how we use numbers everyday. The activities encouraged curiosity, problem-solving, and a greater appreciation for the vastness of numbers in our world.
The event was not only an exciting learning opportunity but also a chance to support the vital work of the NSPCC. Through donations and participation, students and staff contributed to the charity’s efforts in protecting children across the UK.
NSPCC Number Day at Haydon Wick Primary was a fantastic success, bringing numbers to life in an engaging and meaningful way. A big thank you to all the students, staff, and families who took part and supported this important cause! We look forward to continuing our support for the NSPCC and celebrating the joy of mathematics in the future.
